Realty Austin Donates $1200 in Books to Foundation Communities’ Afterschool Programs

“It’s such an honor to start this new year off by giving back to the community this way on this particular day,” says Yvette Flores, Realty Austin co-founder. “Dr. King was an iconic leader who often spoke to the need to address economic as well as racial and social inequalities and I think helping to provide kids in our community with the tools they need in order to become informed and empowered citizens is a very appropriate way to honor his legacy.” 

Foundation Communities offers free after-school enrichment and summer learning programs for 1,000 children and teens each year. The stability and support these programs provide the students with makes all the difference in terms of their overall development and academic success. In fact, students who participate in these programs earn an average GPA of 3.43! 

“Our agents truly make this all possible,” said Flores. “Each and every one of them inspires me and their generosity is what enables our team to support our community.”

About Foundation Communities 

Since 1990, Foundation Communities has been building and expanding a strong foundation where families can succeed. They’ve made it their mission to provide affordable, attractive homes and free on-site support services for thousands of families with kids, as well as veterans, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Since opening its doors, the local nonprofit has housed over 6,000 families and individuals within its 23 affordable housing communities. And in 2021, Foundation Communities housed over 1,000 of our formerly unhoused neighbors — over 300 of which are children.
