Realty Austin Agents Restore Veteran's Home

More than 30 Realty Austin agents volunteered to repair Bertram’s home — including Albert Allen, who is not only a Realty Austin agent but also an Army veteran, Vice President of Rebuilding Together Austin, and Bertram’s nephew.

Albert said that it was amazing to see two organizations that he’s a part of come together and support a dear member of his family. “The combination of the funding from Veterans United, the partnership with Realty Austin, and then [finding out] that someone I care about was going to get [this] assistance [was] pretty cool!”

In the wake of  Winter Storm Uri, Bertram and his family were faced with extensive damage to their home. “What [Realty Austin] is doing here is something that I really appreciate,” Betram said. He went on to say that “although at one time I could’ve done some of these [repairs],” that as a senior citizen he would’ve been overwhelmed trying to repair the home himself. 

Realty Austin is proud to support and serve our military service members. As an organization founded upon the principle of giving back, we honor and appreciate the commitments and sacrifices each and every one of them has made.  “It’s vital in this business to give back,” Realty Austin agent Justin Phillips said, “I like giving back whenever possible to our community and [my fellow] veterans.” 

For Kevin Haines, a Realty Austin agent and  Army veteran, giving back is as fulfilling as it is deeply personal. He recalled growing up in a place, “where folks didn’t have a lot of money,” yet they were rich in community. Kevin also said that members of his community were always willing to extend a helping hand to veterans, so giving back to a fellow veteran and neighbor in need, “feels amazing, actually.”
