The Best Yoga Studios in Austin

Yoga offers incredible benefits and has become wildly popular in Austin over the past several years. There are so many yoga studios around town, where you can practice with other yogis in a safe, calming environment.

If you’re new to yoga and don’t know where to start, yin yoga is relatively slow, steady, and can be considered less intensive than a style like hot yoga. Vinyasa yoga is an excellent exercise for athletes since it improves balance, strength, and flexibility. Prenatal yoga is perfect for expecting mothers because it helps expand your breath and improve flexibility through pelvic floor movements. Other styles of yoga include Bikram (or hot yoga), Kundalini, restorative, and Hatha. It’s important to choose the style of yoga that suits your…

Capital Gains Taxes on Homes in Texas

The Austin housing market is hot, so now is the time to sell your home if you are looking to maximize a profit and invest your finances elsewhere. But before you put the for sale sign in your front yard, it's important to be aware of what the Texas capital gains tax means for you and your home.

WHAT ARE CAPITAL GAINS TAXES?

When you buy anything of value—such as stocks, cars, homes, or one-of-a-kind artwork—you might be subject to a long-term capital gains tax when it comes time to sell that high price tag item if the value has increased. If you bought a painting for $100,000 and later sold it for $150,000, that $50,000 profit is taxable.

If you own an item for a short amount of time when you sell it, you may have to pay short-term capital gains,…

July San Antonio Market Report

Compared to July 2020, home sales in the San Antonio area decreased slightly from 4,285 to 3,885 with pending sales at 3,249 pending sales and new listings at 4,859. Home sale prices in July averaged $353,811 with a median price of $298,400.

According to the San Antonio Board of Realtors, the decrease in sales does not mean that the market is slowing down any time soon. Traditionally, late summer is a slower time to sell—and SABOR found that this data held true this year for other counties in the Central Texas area such as Bexar, Harris, Travis, and Dallas.

If you’re a seller, this slight dip does not signify a permanent cooldown—now is still the ideal time to put your home on the market. Use our estimator tool to see what your home is worth.
