Blues on the Green returns to Zilker Park on August 5 and 6 for another unforgettable summer celebration. Hosted by Waterloo Media, this free concert series is one of Austin’s longest-running music traditions, bringing together families, friends, and music lovers for two nights of local talent under the open sky. While it began as a blues showcase, it now features a diverse lineup of Austin artists across genres like rock, country, Latin, and soul.
August 5 - 10
Jurassic Quest returns to Austin from August 8 to 10 at the Palmer Events Center, bringing North America’s largest and most lifelike dinosaur experience. This family-friendly event features towering animatronic dinosaurs, interactive science stations, fossil digs, dinosaur rides, bounce houses, crafts, and meet-and-greets with baby dinos. Little ones can explore the Tricera-Tots soft play area, while older kids can take on the Quest challenge and become Junior Dino Trainers.

TexARTS in Lakeway is bringing the high-energy charm of Bye Bye Birdie to the stage through August 10. Set in the 1950s, this musical comedy follows rock ’n’ roll heartthrob Conrad Birdie as he prepares to ship off to the army, sparking a media frenzy with one final televised kiss. With catchy numbers like “Put On a Happy Face” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” the show delivers laughs, romance, and retro flair in equal measure.

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to ZACH Theatre’s reimagined Wizard of Oz, running August 13 through September 21 at the Topfer Theatre. This immersive production transforms the classic story with interactive in-the-round staging, a 1930s cowboy band, and vibrant set pieces that bring Dorothy’s world to life, including fields of poppies, bubbles with Glinda, and a yellow brick road winding through the audience. Family friendly and perfect for ages five and up, the show also features themed nights including Pride Night, ASL interpreted performances, and Pay What You Wish tickets.

Magnolia Musical Theatre is making waves this summer with The SpongeBob Musical at the Hill Country Galleria, running through August 16. This colorful, family-friendly production brings the beloved characters of Bikini Bottom to life in a fun-filled adventure featuring SpongeBob, Patrick, Sandy, and more. Performances take place Wednesdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and are completely free to the public, making it a perfect way to enjoy an evening of live theater under the stars in Lake Travis.

POP Cats is bringing its colorful cat-centric celebration to Austin on August 16 and 17 at the Palmer Events Center. This lively convention blends all things feline with music, art, and interactive fun, featuring adoptable cats, whimsical installations, kitty cosplay, and creative workshops. Guests can explore a vibrant cat-themed playground known as Cat City while connecting with fellow cat lovers and vendors from across the country.
August 22 - 24
The PBR Camping World Team Series returns to Austin August 22 through 24 at the Moody Center, where the hometown Austin Gamblers will compete in thrilling five-on-five bull riding matchups against top teams from across the country. Each night brings heart-pounding eight-second rides, starting at 7:45 PM on Friday, 6:45 PM on Saturday, and 1:45 PM on Sunday. In addition to the action in the arena, fans can enjoy a western lifestyle expo, live music, and family-friendly entertainment all weekend long.
August 23
This year’s theme, Silence = Death, is a powerful reminder that Pride is rooted in resistance, visibility, and collective strength. On Saturday, August 23, Austin Pride takes over Fiesta Gardens for a full day of bold expression and community power. With more than 400,000 attendees in past years, the Parade and Festival will feature show-stopping entertainment, unforgettable performances, and an atmosphere centered around being heard. Festival tickets are $20 at the gate, and kids 10 and under enter free.
The Offspring with Jimmy Eat World & New Found Glory
August 24
The Offspring is bringing their SUPERCHARGED Worldwide tour to Austin on Sunday, August 24 at Germania Insurance Amphitheater. Joined by special guests Jimmy Eat World and New Found Glory, the legendary punk rock band will perform fan favorites from across their catalog in one of the city’s top outdoor venues. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with the show starting at 6:30 p.m., promising an electrifying evening of high-energy music under the Texas sky.

The Front Festival is Austin’s vibrant end-of-summer celebration hosted by the community-focused collective Future Front. Taking place over Labor Day Weekend, this four-day festival highlights independent music, film, art, and poolside DJ sets featuring Texas-based women and LGBTQ+ creatives. Events unfold at iconic Austin venues like The LINE Hotel Pool, Cheer Up Charlies, and The Contemporary Austin at Laguna Gloria, with a mix of sunset swims, indie film screenings, and lively music showcases.
