Austin has some horrifying haunted houses to get a good scare in this Fall. Whether you’re looking for the more mellow, daytime spooktacular event, or a nighttime terror, we’ve compiled a list of the best to try out this season.

House of Torment
Scare Level: High 

Known around the country as one of the scariest haunted houses, Central Texas’ own House of Torment will make even the bravest fear the night. There are several frightening events to attend at House of Torment, with lots of scaring and intense strobe lights the House of Torment isn’t recommended for kids under the age of 12. Boo At The Zoo

If you’re looking for a more interactive and kid-friendly Halloween, Austin Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo is a perfect place to bring the kids. Come dress in your favorite costume and take the zoo’s spooky train ride or simply visit the rescue animals!

Austin Ghost Tours
Scare Level: Medium 

Austin’s original ghost tour since 1994 takes guests on a haunting journey of the oldest buildings in Austin and shares the scary tales with all those brave enough to take the tour. While it doesn’t have the strobe lights and freaky frights of traditional haunted houses, Austin Ghost Tour is a real-life take on some of Austin’s scariest true stories.

Pioneer Farms

Pioneer Farms has something to do for everyone all year round. The historic farm allows guests to travel back in time to the 1800s and offers classes, activities, and events all ranging from dance lessons to yoga, to soapmaking. This extra-spooky haunted house has multiple attractions for fear-seekers. Fatal Fear is not for the faint of heart, their scary scenarios tell tales of horrific murders, ghosts, and goblins and are designed for intense, high-energy scares. Because of Fatal Fear’s intensity, they do not recommend their attraction to children under 12.
