Meet Melissa: A Journey of Strength and Creativity
Melissa, the proud recipient of this home, is an inspiring woman who has faced challenges with determination and grace. As the manager of a Starbucks store, she exemplifies leadership and resilience. Beyond her career, Melissa is a talented artist, dedicating her free time to needlepoint, painting, drawing, writing, and collecting wildflowers, showcasing her love for creativity and beauty.

Melissa’s heart for service is evident in her dedication to volunteering with the Central Texas Food Bank and Child Protective Services. For her, homeownership is more than a personal achievement; it’s a foundation for her two sons, who are beginning their academic journeys at Austin Community College. This home represents stability, security, and the promise of a better future.

Melissa’s home was constructed through the incredible efforts of Realty Austin Compass agents and staff. With a sponsorship of over $50,000 and more than 700 volunteer hours from 100+ team members, this project came to life over 12 weeks of dedication and hard work.

Looking Ahead: The Carter Work Project and Whisper Valley

As Austin Habitat for Humanity celebrated its 40th anniversary, the organization announced an exciting milestone: the 2025 Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project will be hosted in Austin. This global initiative has brought thousands of volunteers together over four decades to build homes and spotlight the critical need for affordable housing.

The 2025 Carter Work Project will begin Austin Habitat’s efforts in Whisper Valley, an innovative community in Eastern Travis County and the nation’s first geothermal neighborhood. Realty Austin Compass is honored to join this effort, partnering with Austin Habitat to build our 14th home in Fall 2025.
