Realty Austin Agents Build Three Tiny Homes for the Formerly Homeless at Community First! Village

On March 23, two dozen Realty Austin agents went out to Community First! Village to build three tiny homes for our formerly homeless neighbors in a single day. Realty Austin agents donated a total of 120 hours and $75,000 to complete the project.

“I could not be more proud of our agents,” says Realty Austin Co-Owner & Chief Culture Officer, Yvette Flores. “Not only do our agents make these generous contributions every year, but they also put those dollars to work by coming out to build these homes themselves. It really helps our community partners to expand their impact and I’m so grateful to work alongside such engaged and compassionate people.” 

“It’s one of the coolest things to be here and to be able to build homes for this community,” says Jeremy Fisher, REALTOR® and 2022 RA Humanitarian Award winner. “I can’t imagine the hurdles that some of the Community First! residents have overcome in life and it’s an honor to help in just a little way to provide — not just warmth and shelter — but a home.”

Fellow volunteer and REALTOR James Jarvis agrees, “In this business, it is an honor to try and help solve at least a portion of the affordable housing crisis in Austin and offer more opportunities for people to own a home.”

What is Community First! Village? 

Community First! Village is a 51-acre master-planned community that provides community along with affordable, permanent housing for the chronically homeless in Central Texas. Since 2005, this transformative residential program has been a staple of Mobile Loaves & Fishes and has become a model for uplifting and supporting our formerly unhoused neighbors.
