We're also 20 minutes from Texas State University in San Marcos. These are waters that have always been attractive to human beings. William Winters settled the area around 1800. Pleasant Wimberley purchased the home and Gristmill that Winters established, and thus the name of Wimberley came about.

Having lived here most of my life and having raised my family here, there are several things connected with nature that we love to do, not the least of which is swimming in the beautiful blue hole. On most Saturdays my wife and I like to come into town and browse through the shops. Occasionally we'll listen to some live music and also eat lunch at The Leaning Pear restaurant with their eclectic cuisine. But most days you can find me in my unofficial office, Sip! on the Square, starting my day with a wonderful cup of coffee. Wimberley has a strong tradition of supporting education. We have two primary schools, a middle school, and a high school. The area also has a wonderful public library and two theaters, the EmilyAnn Theatre and the Wimberley Players. .

There's a varied and eclectic style of homes in Wimberley ranging from anywhere in the mid-hundreds to well over a million.
