Western Trails Neighborhood Video
[Western Trails] is a small family community nestled in the south of Austin, just south of Ben White between Manchaca and Westgate, north of Jones Road and south of Red Street or Western Trails. Traveling through the neighborhood, you’ll notice well-manicured lawns and beautiful mid-century architecture. The homes in the neighborhood are mid-century style homes built in the ‘50s and ‘60s. While there is no mandatory homeowners association, there is a voluntary neighborhood association. You’ll find most homes selling in their 200,000 to 300,000 dollar price range.
The neighborhood feeds into four schools, both Sunset Valley and Jocelyn Elementary, as well as Covington Middle School and Crockett High School. You’ll find the people of the community out jogging, walking their dogs, walking with their children. Right now, we’re standing here in Garrison Park. Jocelyn Park is also nearby where the neighborhood gathers during National Night Out for fun and games with their neighbors. In the Western Trails neighborhood, there’s a mix of age groups. Many elderly homeowners reside here as well as young professionals and families moving in more recently. Within a short walking distance of the neighborhood, you’ll find the Westgate Shopping Center, which houses Central Market, Yoga Yoga, Amy’s Ice Cream, Whole Earth Provisions, and many other shops that are distinctly Austin.
Downtown Austin is a short five to ten minute drive, or if you prefer to use public transportation, the Capital Metro bus can get you there in about 15 minutes. If live music is what you’re looking for, Hill’s Café off South Congress has live music most evenings of the week, and Strange Brew Coffeehouse is now open 24 hours, and also sharing live music most nights. Western Trails is a peaceful, family friendly community located conveniently in close proximity to Central Austin.
