Where are the Western Trails?
You’ll find Western Trails homes for sale nestled in South Austin just south of Ben White, between Manchaca Rd and Westgate. Ten minutes to the west you’ll have access to Mopac Loop 1, and about the same distance to the east you’ll find Interstate 35. In about 15 minutes, depending on Austin traffic, you’ll reach Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, convenient for those who fly frequently. To reach major employers in Round Rock, take Highway 183 to Toll Road 45 and get there in about 30 minutes. Western Trails is a great neighborhood in a super location that keeps you close to whatever you need.
Western Trails Amenities
Western Trails homes for sale are not only great looking and convenient but also offer residents a multitude of amenities. A number of parks with basketball courts, volleyball areas, and soccer fields are available to you seven days a week, with Joslin Park and Garrison Park being the closest. Western Trails is situated near two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school, but there are also a number of private schools in the area to consider. The University of Texas is about 15 minutes from the neighborhood, and St. Edward’s University is less than ten minutes away.

Western Trails Neighborhood Video
[Western Trails] is a small family community nestled in the south of Austin, just south of Ben White between Manchaca and Westgate, north of Jones Road and south of Red Street or Western Trails. Traveling through the neighborhood, you’ll notice well-manicured lawns and beautiful mid-century architecture. The homes in the neighborhood are mid-century style homes built in the ‘50s and ‘60s. While there is no mandatory homeowners association, there is a voluntary neighborhood association. You’ll find most homes selling in their 200,000 to 300,000 dollar price range.
The neighborhood feeds into four schools, both Sunset Valley and Jocelyn Elementary, as well as Covington Middle School and Crockett High School. You’ll find the people of the community out jogging, walking their dogs, walking with their children. Right now, we’re standing here in Garrison Park. Jocelyn Park is also nearby where the neighborhood gathers during National Night Out for fun and games with their neighbors. In the Western Trails neighborhood, there’s a mix of age groups. Many elderly homeowners reside here as well as young professionals and families moving in more recently. Within a short walking distance of the neighborhood, you’ll find the Westgate Shopping Center, which houses Central Market, Yoga Yoga, Amy’s Ice Cream, Whole Earth Provisions, and many other shops that are distinctly Austin.
Downtown Austin is a short five to ten minute drive, or if you prefer to use public transportation, the Capital Metro bus can get you there in about 15 minutes. If live music is what you’re looking for, Hill’s Café off South Congress has live music most evenings of the week, and Strange Brew Coffeehouse is now open 24 hours, and also sharing live music most nights. Western Trails is a peaceful, family friendly community located conveniently in close proximity to Central Austin. The winding tree lined streets are dotted with well-manicured lawns and mid-century homes owned by both new homeowners and many original owners who have been here since the neighborhood was originally established.
