Video Tour of Western Oaks
Western Oaks starts along William Cannon west of Mopac. Village of Western Oaks are built south of William Cannon between Mopac and Escarpment, going south almost hitting Slaughter Lane. Village of Western Oaks is 10 minutes to downtown, and only 15 minutes to the airport. Western Oaks, the older section built in the ‘70s to the ‘80s, were more ranch style homes and larger lot sizes, and in Village of Western Oaks started later in the late ‘80s all the way to the year 2000s. The homes built were between 1,400 and 3,600 square feet, and the prices range from 180,000 to 400,000.
With the rapid growth in South Austin, the school boundaries have changed a few times over the past few years. Western Oaks and Village of Western Oaks splits schools between Mills Elementary and Patton Elementary, which are exemplary or recognized ratings, and they also split between middle schools, which is Gorzycki and Small Middle School. They also split the high schools between Austin High and Bowie High School. Western Oaks features these amenities for their use of the residents and guests: A junior Olympic size swimming pool, five, tennis courts, a playground, a basketball court, baseball field, and green belts throughout the neighborhood.
There’s also a local park, Dick Nichols Park. They also have swimming pools, basketball courts, volleyball courts, even a picnic area. There are several options for shopping and dining in the local Arbor Trail Shopping Mall. There’s a brand new Whole Foods, Costco, a P-Terry’s, Torchy’s Tacos, and even a Kerby Lane. If you’re on the southwest end of Western Oaks, you can walk over to Escarpment Village with the HEB, Starbucks, Waterloo, even a Massage Envy. What makes Western Oaks so unique is that we’re only ten minutes to downtown. We have tons of city parks and green belt walking trails, like the Villa Way, Circle C, Metropolitan Park, Dick Nichols Park, and there’s also major employers, which are only five minutes away. In Western Oaks, you really feel like you’re part of the community.
