Steiner Ranch Real Estate

Belts, saddles, boots, and tack figure prominently in the history of Steiner’s Ranch. Now one of Austin’s largest master-planned communities at 4600 acres, Steiner’s Ranch was once a working cattle farm and part of Steiner Rodeo Company’s legacy in Austin, Texas. T.C. “Buck” Steiner probably never envisioned that his rolling hills and pastureland would one day be a home to upscale neighborhoods like The Fairways, The Bluffs, Caslano, Chaparral, Cliffside, Canyon Glen or Bellagio Estates. Or, that there would be a championship golf course, community centers, and waterfront club where cattle used to roam. North of the Colorado River, Steiner’s Ranch fills 2/3rds of the point of land between Lake Travis and Lake Austin with an enviable waterfront along the river. Where is Steiner Ranch Austin?

From Downtown Austin, take TX-1 N (MoPac Expressway) to Ranch to Market RM 2222 W. Take Rural Road RR 620 south to N Quinlan Park Road then Country Trails Lane into the development. Steiner Ranch is 14 miles from Bee Cave via RR 620 that crosses the Colorado River just below Mansfield Dam.

Things to do in Steiner Ranch

There always seems to be something to do in Steiner Ranch. A full-time activities director provides weekly programs and seasonal events that keep this large community well connected. In addition to having 3 amenity centers in the neighborhood, buyers of Steiner Ranch homes for sale can also enjoy the 275-acre University of Texas Golf Course. This 71-par championship course not only provides members with exciting play but also offers beautiful golf course views from homes surrounding the course. The Towne Square Community Center and the John Simpson Community Center offer swimming pools, fitness facilities, and playgrounds while the Bella Mar Community Center features a heated pool.

While Steiner Ranch may feel rural, homes here have an Austin address. Most residences are less than 5 miles from Four Points Shopping Center where there is an HEB grocery store and only 2.5 miles to Randall’s grocery store. More upscale shopping and dining is at Lakeline Mall just over 19 miles from Steiner Ranch. With many of Austin’s top employers located along MoPac TX-1 or Hwy 183, Steiner Ranch is well located for those who need to commute northward to Cedar Park or south into Downtown Austin, only 19 miles away.

Steiner Ranch Schools

Leander ISD serves students in Steiner Ranch. Laura Welsh Bush (K-5), River Ridge (K-5), and Steiner Ranch Elementary (K-5) are the assigned schools for younger students. Canyon Ridge (6-8), Four Points (6-8), and Leander Middle (6-8), as well as Vandegrift (9-12) and Cedar Park High School (9-12), serve older students. School in the Hills, off N Quinlan Park Road in Steiner Ranch, has programs for children 18 months to 6 years. Another option is the Abercorn International School, about 9 miles from most homes in Steiner Ranch, serves children age 2-11.

Steiner Ranch is approximately 25 to 30 minutes to downtown.  Its boundaries are 620 to the north, River Place to the east and Lake Austin to the west and south.  There are homes in Steiner for a large variety of price ranges starting in the mid-$200,000.00 range and going up into the multi-million-dollar range for properties on the water or with spectacular Hill Country views, Steiner Ranch homes are relatively recently built, starting in the mid-‘90s to new homes still being built today.  Styles range from Traditional Brick to Tuscan Estates and some Hill Country Modern styles as well.  Steiner Ranch is located in the acclaimed Leander Independent School District with all but the high school located right here in the neighborhood.  

There are three elementary schools here in Steiner:  Steiner Ranch Elementary, Laura Welch Bush Elementary and the newest, River Ridge Elementary.  The middle school is also in the neighborhood on Country Trails Lane.  The recently built and open Vandergrift serves as the high school for Steiner Ranch.  Steiner Ranch has some of the most amazing amenities of any neighborhood in the Austin area.  There are three community centers, each with their own features such as play areas, tennis courts, basketball courts, ranging from resort-style to kitty pools to Junior Olympic lap pools.  There are about 20 miles of hike-and-bike trails.  Steiner Ranch is home to the University of Texas Golf Club, which is a 71-par championship course on over 275 gorgeously-manicured acres.  For those who prefer the water, Steiner Ranch grants exclusive access to its residents, to the Lake Club on Lake Austin and if Lake Austin doesn’t suit your style, Lake Travis is just 5 minutes outside the neighborhood.  Shopping is very convenient here in Steiner Ranch.  If you’re looking for just a couple of items or a quick stop on your way home from work, the market is a perfect place or, for larger shopping trips, Randall’s Grocery Store is located at the entrance of Steiner Ranch.  If you go just 5 minutes up the road, H-E-B Grocery Store is there.  The area in and around Steiner Ranch is also full of dining options.  At the top of Steiner Ranch you’ll find the Steiner Ranch Steakhouse.  There is also Cho Sushi and a their wonderful happy-hour specials and also Lakeside Pizza & Grille.  Just outside of Steiner you’ll find the famous Oasis Restaurant with its unbeatable sunsets over Lake Travis.  

If you go just over Mansfield Dam, you’ll also find Hill Country Pasta House or, for a very unique and upscale dining experience, try Hudson’s on the Bend.  Steiner Ranch is a really unique and wonderful neighborhood.  It’s so close to 2 of Austin’s beautiful lakes, has exemplary schools and many Hill Country views.  The home styles and prices also vary so there’s something for everyone.  With all the things there are to do in Steiner you can really feel like you’re living on vacation but you’re still close to downtown and the arboretum.  I’m Carrie with Realty Austin and I appreciate you taking the time with me to tour Steiner Ranch.
