Shady Hollow is an established community in a coveted area of Southwest Austin. This Travis County area is in the 78739 and 78748 zip codes and includes the 5 smaller neighborhoods of Shady Hollow, The Estates of Shady Hollow, Barker Ranch at Shady Hollow, and Southland Oaks.

Because of the different areas in Shady Hollow homes for sale, construction times have a wide range. Some of the more established areas have construction from the 1970s while the newer sections have construction from the 1980s through the mid-2000s. Exteriors are typically brick or stone in classic suburban or ranch style. Shady Hollow is located in Southwest Austin, just 20 minutes from downtown. It’s east of Mopac. And South of Slaughter Lane and spans both sides of Brodie, north of 1626.

Construction in Shady Hollow began in the 1970s and continues to present day. The architectural styles of the homes in Shady Hollow vary from traditional and ranch style homes to more contemporary newer construction homes. Homes in the Shady Hollow area start in the 200,000’s and go up to the half million dollar price point. Homes range in size from about 1,500 square feet to more than 4,000 square feet. Shadow Hollow proper contains about 1,500 homes, but the whole Shady Hollow area as it’s generally referred to is more than 2,500 homes.

The schools in the Shady Hollow area are considered very desirable. Bear Enough is our exemplary neighborhood, and recognized Bailey Middle School and Bowie High School are nearby.

Actually, one of the main reasons that residents choose to make their home in Shady Hollow are all the excellent amenities. There is a very nice community center that is the hub of all the neighborhood activities. Shady Hollow also has a large community pool, a swim team, tennis courts, and several beautiful local parks. The neighborhood also encircles more than 350 acres of city of Austin Nature Preserve adjacent to Slaughter Creek. Shady Hollow is convenient to South Park Meadows, Circle C Ranch, and Sunset Valley Shopping. There are lots of restaurants right down the road, such as Galaxy Café, Brick Oven, Texican, Tino’s Greek Café, Nanami Sushi Grill, and Texenza Coffeehouse. Also, a new Alamo Drafthouse Cinema just opened up right down the road. People around here are pretty excited about it.
