After morning bike ride, residents love to tour the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center just down the street. Hi, I’m Tom from Realty Austin, and we’re here in Southwest Austin in the Sendera neighborhood to show you around and let you know more about the area. Sendera is located in Southwest Austin near the corner of Slaughter and Mopac. It’s very near the Circle C neighborhood and is bounded by Sendera Mesa on the west and Corryann Ferry on the east. It’s about 20 minutes, both from downtown and from the airport. It’s 11 miles from downtown Austin and 16 miles from Austin Bergstrom.

Most Sendera homes were built between 1995 and 2004. The average price, as we film this in 2013, is right around $243,000.00. The average cost per square foot is in the mid 120s, and the average home size is right around 1,900 square feet. The home sizes do range quite a bit, though, as you can go anywhere from about 1,400 square feet to roughly 2,700. In terms of the style of home, it is a standard suburban community with the facades being either a brick or a natural Texas stone.

In terms of Sendera’s amenities, it is taken care of by an HOA, and we’re standing right here in the Sendera swim center, which has both a pool with lifeguard service during the summer along with a children’s park and a picnic area. We’re actually standing right down the road from Buoy High School in Southwest Austin, which is a primary reason that people move into Sendera. It’s a fantastic school. Students here also attend either Covington or Bailey Middle School.

One of the reasons that people really like the Sendera area is the proximity to shopping. Some of the things that are most convenient are the Randall’s Grocery at Brodie and Slaughter, the Alamo Drafthouse movie theater and bar at Slaughter and Mopac, all of which are no more than about seven minutes away from here. There’s quite a bit of dining here in the Southwest Austin area around Sendera. Some of the things nearby include a Maudie’s, a Mangieri’s and the Zpizza. There’s also P. Terry’s, Mandola’s, Chuy’s, and quite a bit more at the William Cannon intersection, and the closest bar is the 400 Rabbits at Slaughter and Mopac.

Sendera is a unique community in South Austin. While it does have an affordable cost of living, you can see a lot of pride of ownership, and it is just a very friendly community.
