Lake Travis ISD campus serving nearly 600 K-5 students. It is located east of Ranch Road 620 and south of Lake Travis in the Texas Hill Country. Lakeway Elementary School received an Exemplary rating from the TEA for the 2010-11 school year and continues to strive to provide each student with a well-rounded academic foundation and the skills needed for future success. The school offers a unit-based curriculum with a focus on academic areas including language arts, reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Educators take a personal approach to student learning, offering milestones and progress reports at each grade level. Starting at the kindergarten level, students receive a learning profile that reflects the individual growth in the areas of cognitive and social development. With a high student to teacher ratio, Lakeway Elemnetary currently spends nearly $5,000 per student per year.
Lakeway Elementary offers unique programs such as the Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) program. DEAR helps students build an appreciation and enjoyment for reading by incorporating reading into their daily routine. Students can also enjoy extracurricular programs in P.E., art, computers, and music. The school also offers a number of service and leadership oriented programs for students, including Student Council, Kinder Buddies, Recycling and various community service projects.
Lakeway Elementary School strives to serve students’ unique needs by offering support programs in Resource, Content Mastery, Speech, Special Education, and Discovery (Gifted and Talented). The school also provides counseling, health services, UIL academics, after-school extended care, tutoring for grades 2-5, and community education classes.
