The Pemberton Heights neighborhood is part of what we call Old West Austin, and is located about two miles north of downtown Austin. It roughly sits east of MoPac, west of Lamar Boulevard, and between the 24th and 29th Streets. It would take about a five-minute cab ride to downtown or UT, or a 25-minute drive to the airport.

Pemberton Heights rose to prominence with the first wave of oil money in the '20s. The neighborhood was built in 12 phases between 1927 and the early '40s. One of the best-known structures is the Pemberton Castle on Wooldridge, which was constructed in 1926 as the sales office for Pemberton Heights. The neighborhood encompasses many mansions and manorial styles, but also blocks of more modest homes. There is something for everything, as you will find many different styles, among which Tudor cottages, American Georgian Revival, Spanish Colonial Revival, and the occasional contemporary home. The beautiful streets that these homes sit on are lined with majestic trees.

Kids in Pemberton Heights have access to the popular Casis Elementary School, O. Henry Middle School, and Austin High School. For those who love an active lifestyle, there are several options close to Pemberton Heights. You have Shoal Creek Greenbelt to the east, Pease Park to the south, and the Shoal Creek trail that connects to the Austin hike and bike trail around Lady Bird Lake.

For shopping, residents have plenty of choices. Pemberton Heights is close to the flagship Whole Foods store to the south and Central Market to the north. Lamar Boulevard is home to many other local businesses, so you never have to travel far to get your shopping done. As for restaurants, there's a wide variety in close proximity from upscale Jeffrey's to FINO Modern Mediterranean to another longtime Austin favorite, Kerbey Lane.

Pemberton Heights is an established neighborhood that has kept its community feel, in part due to a very active neighborhood association. People choose to live here because it is very close to the hustle and bustle of our growing city, but feels quiet, tranquil, and timeless.
