Northwoods Schools

Students in the Northwoods at Avery Ranch neighborhood attend Purple Sage Elementary, Grisham Middle School, and McNeil High, all of which are part of Round Rock ISD. Round Rock ISD classes have an average student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1 and the district’s dropout rate in grades 9-12 is only 1.3 percent.

Grisham Middle School participates in the International Baccalaureate Programme, which seeks to develop students’ creative, critical, and reflective thinking and to connect their studies of traditional subjects with the real world, in preparation for the rigors of a university education.

McNeil High is home to the Round Rock ISD Engineering Academy, which prepares students from around the district for college-level work and careers in engineering. McNeil also operates its own Health Sciences Academy, which puts high school students on an academic track designed to strengthen work in those fields in college and beyond.

Northwoods at Avery Ranch is located just off of Lakeline Boulevard west of Highway 183, east of Parmer Lane, and Avery Ranch Boulevard is to the north. Northwoods at Avery Ranch was designed with the environment in mind. Starting with the essentials, including proper site planning and the conservation of trees, the developers carefully planned the community to include natural landscaping, access to nearby mass transit, and last but not least new homes incorporating green building principles.

There are four new subsections of Northwoods, including The Manors, which is built by Standard Pacific Homes, The Estates by Drees Custom Homes, The Heights at Northwoods includes builders Scott Felder Homes and David Weekley Homes, and lastly The Cottages built by Grand Haven Homes. Trails and shady sidewalks will lead to a community center with an outdoor pavilion, event room and terrace, gardens for playing and relaxing, and a beach-entry pool. Within The Heights at Northwoods is a large pond big enough for kayaking and maybe even a little fishing. Of course, just a few miles down Parmer Lane is the Brushy Creek Park with miles of running trails surrounded by nature.

Northwoods feeds into Round Rock Independent School District. Nearby schools include Purple Sage Elementary, Noel Grisham Middle School, and McNeil High School. H-E-B Plus just down the road with a Starbucks and Alamo Drafthouse theater all in the same parking lot. A Super Target is located just around the corner, and for bulk items a Costco only five miles up 183A Toll Road.

The shops of Avery Ranch also include Walgreens, CVS, several banks, a day spa, and many other modern day conveniences. One of the most notable eateries in the area is The League Kitchen & Tavern and Tony C's coal-fired pizzas and wine bar. Z'Tejas has a great atmosphere for lunch and/or dinner. If you're wanting something just a little more casual, there is also our local family spot for pizza, Brooklyn Heights Pizzeria.

Northwoods is only 20 minutes to downtown. The Lakeline Station is walkable to get downtown for your everyday work commute or if you want to just enjoy a little nightlife downtown, too.
