Realty Austin’s $50,000 Match Fund Helps Nonprofit Raise Over $1M in Pledged Funds for Austin Affordable Housing to Help Thousands In Need

AUSTIN, TX — Realty Austin and Foundation Communities are pleased to announce results of their 2015 match fund partnership. Together they celebrate a milestone of $1,002,153 in total funds pledged at the Welcome Home fundraiser with Realty Austin’s $50,000 match fund.

Realty Austin co-owners Jonathan and Yvette Boatwright were the keynote speakers at the annual event and asked local business leaders and friends to invest in Foundation Communities’ proven housing + services model to help thousands in need. Since 2012, Realty Austin has provided $210,000 for the annual fundraiser.

100% of the dollars pledged will support Foundation Communities signature education, financial stability, and healthy living programs that serve both residents and neighbors – altogether, more than 20,000 people. Since partnering with Realty Austin four years ago, Foundation Communities has grown from 150 to over 500 multi-year donors known as ‘Home Builders’ and raised more than $3M in multi-year pledges.

Jonathan Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “Over the last decade, we’ve watched our city grow - and the real estate market boom. Although it’s been great for our business, there’s a flip side. We’ve seen firsthand how people’s dreams get dashed when they realize they just can’t afford to live in Austin. It’s truly heartbreaking. We made it our company’s mission to be part of the solution. That’s why we – and our team of real estate agents choose to invest deeply in Foundation Communities. We want to make sure that people from all walks of life have a place to call home in our city.”

Walter Moreau, Executive Director of Foundation Communities said, “We are so thankful to Realty Austin for their incredibly generous partnership and shared commitment to making sure people from all walks of life have a place to call home here in Austin. Foundation Communities relies on big-hearted, forward-thinking community members to achieve our mission. Realty Austin is an essential part of that equation.”

In addition to the Boatwrights, 4 members from the Realty Austin team served as Table Hosts for the event: Brian Copland, Kathy Jacobs, Winona Barron, and Courtney Lepore. Over the last four years, 60 Realty Austin agents have served in meaningful roles and inspired others to get involved; introduced over 184 new friends to Foundation Communities; contributed over $80,000 in individual gifts; served 558 healthy meals at quarterly supper clubs; fulfilled holiday wish lists for 9 extremely low-income families; delivered over 150 backpacks for the children in the after-school program; and developed lasting relationships with residents. 4 Realty Austin agents have gone above and beyond and hosted Open Houses, inviting 109 of their friends to see the work of Foundation Communities in action. As the nonprofit moves into new neighborhoods throughout Austin, Realty Austin agents show up at neighborhood meetings to support and share the organization’s successful track record with neighbors.

Foundation Communities brings awareness and solutions to the crisis of affordable housing in Austin. Since opening its doors 25 years ago, the local nonprofit has helped over 5,000 families and individuals - including 228 formerly homeless children - find a home and a better quality of life. With 15 affordable housing communities in Austin and 5 more in the works, over 6,000 people will have a home with Foundation Communities in 2017.

Yvette Boatwright, co-owner of Realty Austin said, “Foundation Communities provides a safe place to call home for more than 5,000 individuals every single night, but there are thousands more in need. We must do better! Realty Austin is honored to support an organization that strengthens our communities now and for years to come.”
