When considering a home in Central Austin, the Crestview community is part of a frequently searched region most homebuyers will begin searching. Together with the adjoining communities of Brentwood and Allandale, these neighborhoods make up the sweet spot of homes considered to be centrally located. The distinction between these three communities is mostly geographic. Here in Crestview, you will discover a large patchwork of homes remarkably similar in age and square footage, earliest homes are from the late 1940’s, but the median age is somewhere around 1953 as the typical year built. As part of the “Atomic Era” in American history, the simple charm from this neighborhood is found from the surrounding amenities that have remained well maintained.

Area parks and shopping centers, like the Crestview Minimax IGA, resemble colorized versions of "Leave it to Beaver."

Modest hip roof, ranch style homes are the predominant architectural style, with a small covered entry porch, and adjoining carports are typical characteristics of these Crestview homes for sale. For parents with strollers, the Crestview Minimax IGA is a one stop shop, and locals gathering spot, along with incomparably delicious fare from Little Deli, also in the same center. With so many nearby amenities, residents of this centrally located neighborhood of Austin can stay put, with every creature comfort right around the corner.

Crestview Schools

The revitalization of Crestview and the surrounding neighborhoods has been a boon to the local schools which are part of the Austin ISD, and the higher value of these area schools makes this section of Crestview homes for sale particularly attractive for families. Brentwood Elementary (PK-5) offers an arts-based educational program to nurture children for success before moving on to the fine arts academies of Lamar Middle school (6-8) and McCallum High School (9-12). McCallum, in particular, has earned the notable distinction by the Grammy Academy for recognition by as one of the best high school music programs in the country.

The Crestview/Brentwood neighborhood is located in the heart of North Central Austin, just four miles from the UT Campus and five miles north of downtown. The boundaries of the neighborhood are Burnet Road to the West, Lamar Boulevard to the East, Anderson Lane to the North and 45th Street to the South. The Crestview and Brentwood area was built in the late 1940s and 50s. Most homes in the area were built as simple, pier and beam, wood frame cottage-style homes under 1300 sq. ft. You can also find some original ranch style homes in the area as well.

Today, most of the homes in the neighborhood had some kind of addition or space added to the home in the form of a master suite or even a second story. Many of the homes have been completely remodeled or rebuilt from the ground up. One thing that attracts a lot of buyers to the neighborhood is the charming houses and the original hardwood floors.

The neighborhood schools are Brentwood Elementary, Lamar Middle School, and McCallum High School. Students from all over the city attend Lamar Middle School and McCallum High School for their Fine Arts programs. 

Nestled in the heart of the neighborhood is Brentwood Park. The park features a swimming pool, basketball courts and plenty of room for the kids to roam. Conveniently located in the center of the neighborhood and just steps away from many of the houses, is the Crestview Shopping Center. The shopping center features the neighborhood grocery store, the Crestview Pharmacy, the Little Deli, and Crestview Barbershop.

If you want to venture to the edge of the neighborhood for your shopping needs, then the Burnet Road and the Anderson Lane corridors have just about everything you can imagine. The neighborhood features some of Austin’s most notable and iconic restaurants. There’s Threadgills, where you can enjoy great food and live music, Top Notch Hamburgers, where residents can have a burger and watch a drive-in movie, and there’s the Frisco Shop on Burnett Road, serving Austinites for the past 60 years. People want to live in the Crestview and Brentwood area because it’s unique. It’s in the core of Austin and convenient to everything that you need. 

One of the benefits of the neighborhood is public transportation with the Crestview Metro Rail Station. Because the neighborhood is well-established, there’s plenty of mature trees, green spaces, and neighborhood charm.
