Camelot is an eclectic neighborhood located about a half mile west of Highway 360, off Bee Cave Rd. With several streets named after stories from the King Arthur tales (see Gallahad Dr and Lancelot Way) this neighborhood has a fanciful charm while intermingling a fine mix of different-styled homes, both in their original states and with modern updates. With construction starting in the 1960s, some say Camelot is named for the eponymous 1967 film, while others claim it was inspired by the colloquialism for the JFK presidency. Either way, homes here run the gamut from mid-century modern to contemporary custom. The far north end of the Barton Creek Greenbelt borders the neighborhood to the west and offers all the natural space residents and their families could ask for. At the same time, homeowners enjoy all the accessibility of having Loop 360 just to the east. As such, this location straddles the best of both Austin’s Hill Country splendor and the modern conveniences of its growing Loop 360 corridor. Students attend schools in Eanes ISD.

Where is Camelot?

Camelot rests in an ideal location bookended by Loop 360 and the beginnings of the beautiful Texas Hill Country and Barton Creek Greenbelt. Heading north on 360 will quickly bring you to Lake Austin, while going south will find you at Barton Creek Square Mall or conveniently on your way to the airport on Highway 71. Bee Cave Rd also runs adjacent to Camelot and will take you east into Downtown Austin by way of the city’s esteemed Zilker Park, site of the Austin City Limits music festival in the fall.

While many of the first homes in Camelot, built in the 1960s, have been remodeled or perfectly preserved, others weren’t built until years later. This mix gives Camelot a wide variety of amenities. Some homes even boast the most luxurious of touches, like indoor pools. Both Barton Creek Square Mall and Davenport Village are easily reachable for your shopping needs. Students and their families have the privilege of attending the highly acclaimed Eanes ISD. The Eanes ISD flagship campus is Westlake High School, known as one of the best high schools in the country, and every school in Eanes ISD is rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency, the best designation possible in Texas. In addition to an outstanding array of advanced and specialized courses for students to take, Westlake High School also has fantastic extracurricular programs and a football program that was once home to Saints quarterback Drew Brees.
