Balcones Park, developed in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, soon became a very popular neighborhood for the affluent citizens of Austin. Originally constructed as ranch-style homes on oversized lots, most Balcones Park homes for sale have more than 3000 square feet of living space, and many are quite a bit larger than that. Balcones Park is served by the Austin ISD public school system. Younger students attend Highland Park or Casis Elementary (PK-5) before attending Lamar or O Henry Middle School (6-8) and either prestigious Austin High (9-12) or McCallum (9-12) High School. These schools have an outstanding reputation and rank exceptionally well among the other schools comprising Austin ISD.
