Living in an Austin Gated Community offers a number of convenient and practial advantages. Here are just few reasons to consider living in one:

Beauty

Nearly all Austin gated communities are overseen by a HOA, meaning that there is a minimum standard of upkeep that every house and yard must maintain. The speed limit is generally slow enough that you don't really hear the revving of car engines, and the landscaping is always professionally designed and cared for by the HOA. Everything in an Austin gated community is designed to make the neighborhood beautiful.

Community

The hardest aspect to quantify, but the most important for most people, is that Austin’s gated communities are communities. Neighbors actually chat, kids actually play outside, and community events are commonplace. The benefits of knowing and trusting your neighbors are hard to elucidate, but have an enormous impact on quality of life.

Exclusivity

You can't get into an Austin gated neighborhood unless you have a good reason to be there. The roads aren't public, and you must know the security code to get past the gate—so you know that if you see a car inside your community, it belongs to a neighbor, friend or family member. Living in an Austin gated community is a privilege, and it's one that most residents take a fair degree of pride in.

Security

Austin's gated communities generally take their security very seriously. You can expect to see security cameras pointed at major points of ingress or egress. Often the Neighborhood Watch is much more active and coherent in a gated community than in a typical neighborhood. It’s proven that gated communities have lower crime rates than other types of subdivisions.

Privacy

Most gated communities in Austin also feature some sort of wall or at least a visual barrier, such as trees, between the lots and the access road and surrounding subdivisions. Many also include larger lots, wooded lots, or other subtle ways of making your house feel farther away from your neighbors. Combined with the exclusivity, this can provide your home with optimal privacy.
