Mitchell offered us a lot of value as our real estate agent. He personally worked with us throughout the entire home buying process, and physically showed up to every home showing. We never got passed off to an assistant or less qualified agent...given that we experienced that with our lender, we're extra thankful for Mitchell's personal approach. He really shined in several moments, like when he defended us in front of some aggressive sales people in the Manor, TX new construction homes, demystifying their sales lingo and telling it like it is ("the counter tops are an upgrade, this isn't how your house would look"). He brings a lot of real estate experience to the table. Mitchell rents out his own properties, as well. During our home showings, he frequently offered valuable insight about specifics inside each property. This experience also came in handy as we navigated the very difficult greater Austin area market. Throughout the process, we experienced buyers putting offers on homes before the house was even on the market, we witnessed how deceiving the sales price of properties can be, and discovered a lot about neighborhoods by looking at crime maps and housing trends. Needless to say, it wasn't sufficient to rely on Zillow or MLS to get adequate information about properties. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Mitchell works practically 24/7. During our home showings, he kept his phone off and gave us full attention. When I received an inspection report, he called me in the evening and spoke for several hours, reviewing each line item on the inspection, including estimated costs to fix and DIY tips. This was really helpful feedback to get and allayed a lot of homeowner worries of mine. We had two issues come up while working with Mitchell, but still want to give him 5 stars because of how well he managed to make things right. Issues happen whenever you have people working together, but what matters is how well Mitchell turned things around to make them better. Background: My wife and I are first time home buyers, we worked with a lender from out of state and were looking for a home in the Austin market; all in all, this added some complexity to the process. Issue 1) After embarking on our initial series of house showings, we had wanted to see a house that was not yet on the market. We had asked Mitchell about it, but he had told us that it wasn't available yet ("Coming Soon" status), so we prioritized other houses. Soon afterward, we saw that the house had changed on the MLS from "Coming Soon" to "Pending Taking Backups" without ever having an open house. We were a bit disappointed, but that issue helped us improve our communications with Mitchell. We ended up sending him a more concise list of what we were looking for in a house, and immediately the interaction turned around. Mitchell helped us submit an offer on the house anyway, he also made many more calls to other houses for us, printed out MLS reports for us, and helped us narrow our focus much more effectively. Needless to say, we love our new house even more, and couldn't have made this happen without Mitchell. 2) In our second home offer, Mitchell had removed the Residential Contract clause (aka Home Warranty concession) from the official offer. In Mitchell's defense, he understands the competitiveness of the home offer process (there were 5 other offers on the house, for example). In our early interactions, he had spoken generally about how he recommends shortening the option period, getting pre-approved in advance, etc to make our offers more appealing. From our perspective, we felt it would have been better to have been reminded about giving up the home warranty when the time came to submit the specific house offer, since the home warranty is something we really expect would be included in the offer, paid for by the seller. However, after speaking with Mitchell about this, he immediately apologized and offered to take the cost of the home warranty out of his commission. All in all, Mitchell brought his attentive, professional, experienced self to our aid, and helped us close on a wonderful home. Thank you, Mitchell!
