Jon Chambers has a deep and intrinsic motivation to share his love of investment with his clients. He does not isolate his knowledge to one neighborhood, or even one area in Austin. As a former educator, Jon leans naturally toward not just relaying information but educating everyone he works with. Jon will aid a buyer or seller in understanding the numbers, but most importantly help them honor their gut instincts and what works best for their personal needs. He makes great efforts to be an indispensable resource to his clients.

Real estate can be a daunting and complicated endeavor, but Jon seeks to simplify that process and enable his clients to make the best decision. His love of Austin is contagious. Above all, he puts his clients best interest first.

When not out working in the field, Jon enjoys being with his wife and two boys. They love exploring, being funny, and living life simply.

Jon is an amazing Realtor. I can’t recommend Jon highly enough. He walked us through every step of an exciting, but emotional process. Jon was honestly fantastic. Jon is very candid and proved himself to be very trustworthy. He sets clear expectations and delivers on those expectations. In choosing a realtor in Austin, you'd look for two things. First, deep knowledge of the area - the character of neighborhoods, quality of builders, etc. Second, an understanding of real estate - what's going to be a good investment, not only for resale but the assessment of a home's likelihood to have any serious issues. Jon's got both areas down pat. 

But you get a lot more with Jon. He's patient - not out to get a quick buck, but will bend over backward to find the right place for you - and he takes the time to get to know what you want. He's a voice of reason - it's easy to get excited about a property and sometimes hard to be objective about it if you have an irrational emotional attachment. He can provide the reality check we all need. 

He's also just a genuinely nice guy - does that count for anything in real estate? I don't know, but they're the kind of people I want to do business with.

I wish I could take Jon with me as an agent for all major purchase decisions. I trust him completely, and with no other real estate agent have I been so sure that he was purely working with my best interests in mind.

After interviewing several realtors recommended by friends, I decided to work with Jon to sell my downtown condo and buy a house this year (2011). I initially felt more comfortable with Jon because of his laid back, no pressure style. I did not like the realtors who acted as if real estate is an exact science - he understands that both buyer and seller are human and will look at properties from a variety of perspectives.  He always carried himself as an educator rather than a salesman, which is exactly what I was looking for.

Several realtors "strongly" encouraged me to list the condo for substantially less than I thought it was worth (based on what they perceived as comps, but I didn't) - which I took as an attempt to churn clients and just get deals closed. At all times, Jon simply provided information about the market but deferred to me on price and understood that he is there to assist the process, not commandeer it. He is genuinely looking to make his clients happy, not just turn properties. That is what sets Jon apart in my mind.      

Long story short, he sold my condo for my original asking price without ever listing it on MLS. Through his network of realtors, he found several potential buyers that viewed the condo when they were making their downtown rounds with those realtors. They viewed it several weeks before I had planned to put it on the market - I was in no rush and still trying to determine whether my asking price was too high. The ultimate selling price was substantially more than what other realtors told me would be the maximum I could expect in this market. 

We then looked all over Austin at about 30 houses until we narrowed down the neighborhoods to South Austin. Jon was surprisingly informed about every neighborhood we searched - Allandale, Rosedale, Cat Mountain, Tarrytown, Westlake Hills, Barton Hills, Bouldin Creek, Travis Heights, etc.  And he was happy to show and tell me everything he knows about all of them. I was not an "easy" client, but Jon was genuinely happy to assist with the entire process - even reassuring me that he was willing to continue looking at houses as long as it took for me to be confident in the neighborhood and type/size/age of the house.    

At all times, Jon really listened to what I was looking for in a house and helped steer me to the right neighborhood and price range and away from houses that had latent issues that my untrained eye would not have caught. Once we were honed in on the neighborhood, Jon did a ton of analysis of neighborhood trends - down to the point of visiting possible comps to get a sense of how they compare to houses I was interested in, running analyses of 3-, 5-, and 10-year trends, and then narrowing those analyses to exclude houses that only appeared to be comps on paper. He sent various types of market analyses so I could see for myself what the neighborhood was doing and identify nuances in different pockets within a neighborhood. Over the course of about three months, I felt I learned relevant trends in my top neighborhoods and had a good sense of a reasonable range of total price and price per square foot (the two metrics I ended up focusing on to assess value). Again, Jon went above and beyond to educate me to ensure that I was confident in whatever offer I chose to make. 

In the end, Jon found my house through his personal network. We ended up buying a house that, like the condo, never officially hit the market. We were able to find an amazing house for a great value without rushing to make an offer to beat other buyers. I was confident in the original offer, and we came up with a negotiation strategy that resulted in a final sales price that is objectively fair but less than the personal value I attached to the home.      

My experience could not have been better or easier. The fact that Jon found the house, and buyers for the condo, outside of MLS would have been enough to make the process an extremely positive experience, but Jon's dedication to really getting to know his clients and ensuring that they are educated buyers and sellers put him over the top. I will definitely work with Jon next time I sell or purchase real estate, and I will continue to recommend him to everyone I know.
