David’s earliest real estate memory is from the 5th grade when he would repeatedly call the 800 number of a local broker to listen to recorded messages describing the latest listings. Fast forward to 2012, when David began his real estate career as an investor while in graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin. After teaching at UT Austin and UT San Antonio, he decided to remain rooted in the city and state he loves and make real estate his full-time career. His extensive investment experience and unique educational background are a tremendous asset to his clients, whether they are sophisticated investors or first-time home buyers. David is a skilled educator, negotiator, and client advocate who ensures his buyers and sellers thoroughly understand the market, avoid major surprises, and protect their interests in one of life’s most consequential financial transactions. At the same time, he strives to keep the process as fun and stress-free as possible.

David’s fundamental client service philosophy comes down to one thing—integrity. It’s easy to do the right thing when the right thing happens to be the easy thing to do. But what about when doing the right thing is difficult or unpleasant? What about when nobody is looking or nobody will find out? David is intensely mindful of this distinction—what is right vs. what is easy/convenient—in both his professional and personal life and takes very seriously the trust his clients place in him.

David is a 5th generation Texan living in Austin since 2006. He and his wife, Erin, have three children, including twin boys. He loves playing guitar and drums, reading, exploring new restaurants & bars, and taking advantage of Austin’s live music scene.

Looking to buy a home in Austin is not an easy task, and David Ivy made what is normally a stressful situation much easier than I imagined. He is proactive, hardworking, and knows the industry.
