Zilker Botanical Gardens

The Zilker Botanical Gardens, located at 2220 Barton Springs Road, near downtown Austin, is one Austin's most unique attractions, featuring 31 acres of beautiful gardens. It is located on the south bank of the Colorado River near Zilker Park.

Zilker Botanical Garden is home to a diverse array of native, hybrid, and exotic plants. It is split into 8 different sections, each depicting a different habitat or focus. Each garden features unique species and is individually maintained. Gardens include:

  • Cactus and Succulent Garden
  • Hartman Prehistoric Garden
  • Herb and Fragrance Garden
  • Isamu TaniguchiI Oriental Garden
  • Mabel Davis Rose Garden
  • Doug Blachly Butterfly Trail and Garden
  • Pioneer Village
The garden is surrounded by Zilker Park and near Lady Bird lake. 300,000 people from more over 100 countries visit the gardens each year. The park is open from 7:00am-5:30pm daily and parking is available for $3. Within a few miles of the botanical garden are other great places to explore including The Ann W.
