South Congress Shops

One of Austin’s hippest and most loved neighborhoods, South Congress, or “SoCo” as it is often called, is visited by thousands of locals and tourists every day. Located between Riverside and Oltorf in South Austin, the avenue is the home to hip boutiques, popular bars and restaurants, and quirky businesses.

Within walking distance of downtown Austin, SoCo perfectly captures both Austin’s hometown hippy vibe and metropolitan feel. It is the one and only place in the city where you will find a world-class costume shop, old-fashioned candy store, vintage clothing boutique, and historic music venue all in one location. SoCo is also where you can find some of Austin’s finest food trailers, serving a variety of treats from snow cones and cupcakes to hotdogs and BBQ.

Once a month street vendors and artisans set up shop on SoCo for “First Thursdays,” a monthly event and outdoor market. South Congress shops also stay open late, often hosting in-store events and specials. Don’t be surprised if you encounter street performers and find yourself dancing to live music while strolling SoCo; you are just doing your part to “Keep Austin Weird.”
