Just northeast of Austin, off Highway 290 in the Blackland Prairie, sits the town of Manor. Because of the prairie region’s rich soils, Manor has long enjoyed an important position in regional agriculture, and the town has maintained a traditionally rural lifestyle. At just over 5,000 residents, Manor resembles many small towns in Texas, though it has undergone substantial growth like the rest of the region. Named after a local postmaster who came to Texas with Sam Houston, Manor real estate offers residents the chance to enjoy wide-open spaces while still being a manageable distance from Downtown Austin.

The Manor Independent School District serves students in the city of Manor and surrounding communities. The district has aggressively courted partnerships with top tech companies and their research campuses based within the district. This has led to innovative and highly regarded partnerships with Samsung and Applied Technologies and helped to create the Manor New Tech High School, where students specialize in a cluster of subject areas known as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The programs earned New Tech High a visit from President Barack Obama for being a model for national innovation.
Manor enjoys a traditional country lifestyle in a fast-growing region. With easy access to Austin’s many attractions, Manor provides its residents an affordable piece of beautiful Central Texas. With wide-open spaces all around, Manor real estate is attractive for those looking to spread out and have space to grow. Near Walter E. Long Lake and the Walnut Creek Nature Preserve, Manor provides several opportunities for outdoor activities right in its backyard. And beyond that, the Austin city limits, with all its many options for dining and entertainment, lie in wait.
The city of Manor is located only 20 minutes from Downtown Austin, just northeast of the urban core, on Highway 290. The city’s eastern clearance of the densest parts of Austin give it easy access to Austin-Bergstrom Airport and most of the attractions to the north, east, and south of Austin via Toll Road 130, a much less traffic-choked thoroughfare than the main Austin highways. With the expansion of Highway 290 into a proper urban freeway, Manor looks to experience much growth in the near future, which will only bring the residents here closer to all that is happening in the Austin area.
