There are a number of reasons why residents choose to call The Hills of Lakeway home. One of the most important factors for newer residents is the Lake Travis school district, known for the State Champion Lake Travis High School Cavalier football team, and for its exceptional academics. Others enjoy this community because it's an escape from the hustle and bustle of Central Austin. The community and its surrounding area offer championship golf courses (private and public), Lake Travis living, shopping, dining, and much more.What are some negatives of living in The Hills of Lakeway?
The community is going through a bit of a change right now, with some retirees beginning to move out and younger families moving in. This is only noticeable when compared with the very diverse crowd that surrounds the neighborhood. I really had to look deep to find something, because my honest opinion is that the community is perfect!What are the public schools like?
The school system is among the top districts in the area, with all the schools earning top honors in academics and sports. You have 2 amazing elementary schools within walking distance; Lakeway Elementary holds an Exemplary rating, and the new Serene Hills Elementary opened its doors in August 2008. If your children are a little older, we haven't forgotten about them. They will attend the Exemplary Lake Travis Middle School. If you have children that are preparing for college or playing in high school sports, you will be hard pressed to find a more advanced high school than Lake Travis.How close are the schools?

The Hills of Lakeway is divided between 2 equally popular areas: The Village of The Hills and Flintrock Country Club. The Village of The Hills offers a more natural, large-tree, no-sidewalk community feel, and Flintrock Country Club offers newer custom homes, less mature trees, and streets lined with sidewalks.Where do people go out to eat?
There are 2 excellent dining options right in the community; however, you are not at a loss for food outside the community either. From Sushi at Thai Spice or Mizu, Italian at Rocco's or Ciallo's, Mexican at Flores or Verde's, Seafood at Fish City Grill, or Steaks and American, we have it all.Where do people shop for groceries?
There are great options for grocery shopping in the Lakeway area. The area houses 2 of the largest chains, Randall's and HEB, as well as community grocery stores. Both Randall's and HEB are currently expanding due to the growth of the Lakeway area. They offer a number of options, such as cooking stations, gourmet food, extensive wine selections, and much more.Where do people workout?
The Hills of Lakeway offers a state-of-the-art workout facility right here in the community. It includes weights, cardio equipment, classes, trainers, a snack bar with healthy options, and much more. If you are looking for one of the big chain facilities, we have those as well.What kind of organized sports are offered?
The area offers some of the best organized sports programs for children and adults. Whatever your heart desires, we have it here to be played.What is the traffic like when commuting to downtown?
Like any city that is growing at the rapid pace that Austin is growing, there will be traffic at certain parts of the day. However, there are ways to avoid the traffic into and out of the community, and many routes are available to get downtown.How long does it take to commute downtown?
The commute to downtown Austin is approximately 20 minutes, but keep in mind that it's much closer than you think, and the only reason for the drive is that we need to go around the lakes to get there.How long does it take to drive to the airport?
The airport is approximately 35 minutes from the community.What makes you an expert in The Hills of Lakeway?
What makes me the expert on The Hills of Lakeway and the surrounding area is that I live here and I'm currently raising my family in the community.
