Buda is a small town in Hays County about 20 minutes south of Austin off Interstate 35. Many families move to Buda for the highly regarded Hays CISD and affordability compared to Austin. Buda homes for sale start in the 100s, but buyers can find luxury, estate-style properties in the millions. Originally named Du Pre, TX, the name was changed to Buda after it was discovered that there was already a Du Pre, TX. The current name is derived from the Hungarian immigrants who made their homes in Buda (a new shortened version of Hungary’s capital, Budapest). Early homeowners in Buda were heavily involved in an agricultural community that was dominated by cotton production, dairy farming, and beef cattle. Presently, Buda homes for sale offer a beautiful place to establish a home, full of safe and cozy neighborhoods that are only a stone’s throw from the beautiful countryside.

Buda is also known as the Outdoor Capital of Texas, with lots of camping and hunting nearby.

On the other end of the spectrum of attractions, McKinney Falls State Park is 13.8 miles from Buda, or about 21 minutes.
