I think it has everything to do with the people. The people in Austin are genuine and true to form -- no alterior motives, just a shared love for the city. It's not about making money, it's about making a life worth living.

I love how fit Austin is. Everywhere I look I always see people working out and staying in shape, and it's a great motivator to get me off the couch and outside!

I love how Austin is such a laid back city. You really get a feel for it on Friday afternoon when it seems like half the city takes off early to start the weekend. Friday night rush hour is virtually non-existent. People in Austin just seem to have a much better work/life balance than many other cities.

I love how open and inclusive Austin is - it's an easy place to meet people and join or form groups, both social and professional. I think, because of this, along with Austin's relaxed and open-minded atmosphere, many Austinites enjoy relatively large and diverse groups of friends and acquaintances. I think it's one of the reasons why we're such a happy bunch!

I love Austin because of all fun things you can do year round! I love hiking at our beautiful parks and kayaking or boating on our amazing lakes and rivers! We can grill outdoors and our weather is just made for entertaining! What's not to love?

I love that Austin values the arts. There are two huge music fests in our area this weekend: Bluegrass and Reggae! Plus great theater, dance, and a thriving visual art scene.

I love the music scene and even though everybody knows Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World, you really don't get to appreciate the music variety until you live here or stay for an extended period of time. Then you can visit some of the smaller music venues and you don't have to fight for parking or a place to sit or stand....so much talent! The New ACL Live -Moody Theatre is Awesome!

I love Austin because there's always something to do. Sure, there's the big events like the Austin City Limits Music Festival & SXSW that get the big headlines, but there are tons of other options pretty much every day of the week, 365 days a year. If you're bored living in Austin.....you just need to get off the couch and get outside!

It seems like I have this conversation with someone at least once a week. Austin just has this energy about it. From the live music, to the arts, to the restaurants, to the outdoor activities, to the weather, to the people - there is so much to love! I moved here in '96, and I still feel the same as the day I drove into town: Austin is the only place I've ever lived that feels like "home" to me!

I love its refreshing beauty, with so much green space, hills galore, and views of the lake from all over. A lifelong resident since the age of 1, my main observation regarding people and their attitidues in Austin is this: With the influx of the past 15 years, although many "Austinites" now hail from elsewhere, they tend to leave behind their former geographic attitudes and beliefs that those are superior; rather, Austin is so "cool" and the energy so unique and welcoming, that most newcomers prefer to dive in headfirst and become part of it without wanting to change it. Having my beloved and internationally acclaimed Longhorns here certainly helps as well...
