SXSW 2014 - Free Shows at Butler Park Image by Tye Truitt

It's that time of the year again - like Austin's very own holiday! Traffic becomes chaos (like it wasn't already), and weird people from all over the country and world are scouring the streets to find a good live show. WARNING: During this week, the downtown area is not for the timid, who prefer taking it easy during Spring Break. Or maybe you just don't want to spend money to see all that SXSW has to offer this year.

For music lovers who are looking to avoid the downtown chaos (or don't want to buy a SXSW badge or wristband), SXSW thoughtfully hosts free shows during the last few days of the festival at Auditorium Shores. Since the usual site is experiencing renovations right now, it will be at Butler Park, 1000 W Riverside

For the 4th year in a row, Forbes ranked Austin as the #1 fastest-growing city with a 2.5% population increase which comes out to about 110 people per day. No surprise here. We're used to being the fastest city on the block, and we're feeling it. Most of us complain about the traffic, but fortunately that's the only thing to complain about. Everything else is simply amazing.

Four Texas cities rounded out the top 20 fastest growing cities. The study was based on the 100 most populous Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) in the U.S. that include cities and their surrounding suburbs. Using data from Moody’s Analytics, cities were ranked by six metrics: population growth rate for 2013 and 2014, year-over-year job growth for 2013,…
