Bastrop, TX, is a charming town located on the banks of the Colorado River, about 30 miles southeast of Austin. It is located in Bastrop County near the towns of Elgin, Smithville, Paige, McDade, Cedar Creek, and Watterson. Home to approximately 7,200 residents, the town is filled with unique Bastrop real estate, schools, and many entertainment options.

Students in the area are served by the Bastrop Independent School District, which also serves Cedar Creek, Rockne, Paige, Red Rock, and other rural areas of Bastrop County. “Reaching for excellence” is the motto at Bastrop ISD, and excellent education is the result. Bastrop ISD has been lauded for excelling on state-wide standardized tests as well as on national assessments. Some students in the area are served by Smithville ISD.

Bastrop is known as the home of the Lost Pines, a forest of pine trees that stand separated from the larger Piney Woods region of East Texas by more than 100 miles.
