Rene Ruiz - Bio

Rene is a central Texas native, born in San Marcos and making Austin his home for the past 15 years. He specializes in residential real estate in the South and Southwest areas of Austin as well as the Hays County Communities of Buda, Kyle and San Marcos.

Rene has been involved in Real Estate for almost 30 years through his 22 years in the banking industry and his current Broker Associate status with Realty Austin. Rene was recently awarded the “2009 REALTOR of the Year Award” presented by the San Marcos Area Board of REALTORS Association.

Rene holds a BBA degree in Finance from Texas State University and a Graduate degree in Banking from Southern Methodist University. Along with his Real Estate Broker’s license with the State of Texas, he also holds the Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR), Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) designations. These designations, along with his broker status, are held by less than 1% of REALTORS nationwide.

Rene is a proud father of two children with his wife Dr. Diane Garza who both spend most of their free time involved in one or both of their children’s activities. Rene enjoys being outdoors and can usually be found golfing, gardening or outdoor grilling when not at one of his kid’s events or showing homes.

I'm a first-time homebuyer. Rene was extremely helpful in showing and guiding me through all the different aspects of buying a home. He was willing to show me any and all of the homes and condos I was interested in. He was very good at pointing out the good aspects of each home and when he noticed any potential problems, he was quick to point them out but also showed me how they can be fixed. While he showed me some of the easy fixes, he also pointed out some of the big problems in some of the homes I looked at and pretty much steered me away from them because the fixes would be too costly and could lead to potential problems in re-selling in the future.
