Matt Prewett - Bio
A native of Austin, Texas and a graduate of Westwood High in northwest Austin, Matt has witnessed Austin blossom from a hidden gem to one of the fastest-growing cities in America. He began his real estate career in 2004 when his previous broker recruited him into the business from the accounting world. Since then, he has closed over 100 sales and 100 leases, including more than $7 million in gross sales in 2011, despite the challenges of a struggling economy. He attributes his success, in part, to the extensive network of relationships that he has developed through his multiple involvements; creative marketing strategies; savvy negotiating skills; broad demographic knowledge; and his commitment to hard work, excellent customer service and an enjoyable experience for every client. Having grown up in Austin, Matt has a deep understanding of the majority of the market niches in the area, including Central Austin, where he currently resides.
Matt has built his business and database of clientele with a referral-based business plan that emphasizes his core philosophies of continuous personal growth and setting, meeting, and exceeding expectations. With an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Accounting, both from prestigious Rhodes College, Matt’s educational background, and specifically his financial analysis skills, allows him to excel with investors in addition to owner-occupants. Matt's professional accomplishments include the attainment of a Texas Real Estate Broker's license, a license held by less than 1% of Realtors because of the education, training and experience required.
Matt’s began honing his leadership skills in college, where he served as a two-year Captain of the Rhodes College soccer team and a member and pledge trainer of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Still heavily involved in the soccer community in Austin, Matt is in his eighth year as Head Coach of the University of Texas Men’s Soccer Club. In addition to this distinction, he also currently serves as President of the Austin Men’s Soccer Association, the largest amateur adult soccer league in Austin with over 3000 player-members.
Matt understands that the purchase of a property is one of the largest single purchases that most people make in their lifetime. He enjoys acting as a sounding board for important decisions, and assisting his clients through the entire process of their transition--whether it be buying their dream home, leasing a condo downtown, downsizing without sacrificing lifestyle, investing for short term cash flows and/or long-term appreciation, or thinking through options for a lake house or vacation home.
In addition to his involvements in the soccer community, Matt enjoys biking, working out at the gym, watching sports, exploring Austin’s restaurant scene, hunting, fishing, and almost anything else that one can do outdoors, for which the options are plentiful in the Central Texas area.
Matt Prewett - Testimonials
We had the best experience working with Matt. He was very responsive and available to help us finding a home. He exceeded our expectations and we’ll definitely recommend him as many times as we need. And eventually, we’d love to work with him again selling and buying future homes!

I work for one of the largest paint and chemical companies in the world. I have access to use our own real estate brokers in the Austin Market. Instead my wife and I gave Matt the opportunity to help us find a home. Matt is a real estate broker full time which is important because most do real estate part time. Matt was on time for every appointment with a well mapped out game plan for the day. His communication and our ability to get in touch with him was top notch through the process. His knowledge of the Austin area was good. He pointed out construction flaws in a number of homes we evaluated. He had good finance knowledge and contacts that we actually used in the end over our source. Even today after our purchase has been done months ago he continues to follow up with us and keep us up to date on current events that may be needed for our new home. I believe he continues to learn about his business on a daily basis which will propel him to new levels in the real estate business.

Matt Prewett recently represented me in the purchase of two duplexes. He was very thorough, and he provided me with a wealth of choices. He has keen sense of value, and didn’t waste my time on properties that were not worth considering.
He is well-organized and absolutely reliable in maintaining communication. One of the closings proved somewhat difficult on the Seller’s side, and Matt was instrumental in shepherding the deal to a conclusion. I was extremely satisfied with his high-quality service, and would whole-heartedly recommend him in any type of real estate transaction.

We were referred to Matt by a good friend and had a great experience working with him. As first time homebuyers, we had a lot of questions. Matt managed to guide us expertly through the process without giving us any "correct" opinions about what we should want. He patiently showed us a number of places and objectively pointed out things to consider about each. When we found just the right house for us, he helped us navigate the offer and negotiations. He even attended our closing. Currently he is our "go-to" resource for questions about property taxes and home maintenance issues. We are very happy with our place, but when the time comes we will certainly call on Matt. In the meantime we would highly recommend him to anyone buying or selling real estate in the Austin area.

Matt Prewett helped me find a house in Austin last year. He was fantastic to work with. I live in New Jersey, so there were some complications in getting signatures and arranging the closing. Matt was always available for me and he stayed on top of everything. I will recommend him to all my friends in Austin and will definitely use him again the next time I buy or sell a house in Texas.

Matt Prewett helped us find our dream home in Central Austin. This was not easy because we were very particular about what we wanted and where we wanted to live within Central Austin. We were already living in the Austin area but needed someone with the expertise on neighborhoods and streets within the neighborhoods. Matt provided that expertise and did a great job of customizing our weekly search results and house hunting trips to meet our preferences. He was super patient along the way. The house we eventually purchased went under contract by another party on the day we made an offer. Matt tracked the status of the property and worked directly with the sellers. He learned the contract fell through and helped us make a new offer on the property the day it went back on the market. Our offer was accepted and thanks to Matt’s diligence, we happily own a lovely home in Central Austin.
This was our first home purchase and Matt was super helpful and exceptionally patient throughout the entire process. We highly recommend Matt to anyone wanting to work with one of Austin’s best realty professionals.

My fiance and I bought a condo last fall and had the pleasure of working with Matt to find the perfect fit. He was always happy to show us homes that had caught our eye, and to recommend places we might like and help narrow our search. We never felt pressured to buy, and he was patient through the ups and downs of our home search and made even our modest budget search feel like a priority.
We were really impressed with Matt's extensive knowledge of Austin, he knows the area like the back of his hand. He was an expert resource on neighborhoods, schools, safety, traffic, soil/foundational trends (he warned us about an area where later a friend of ours who lived there has his windows blow out due to soil issues) and many other considerations. As an Austin native, Matt's well versed in how Austin has been changing, and where it might be going next. He was equally knowledgeable when it came to the homes themselves and could spot potential problem areas right away.
He goes above and beyond for his clients, periodically writing fun and personal letters and sharing home-buying (and home-owning!) tips. He even delivered an amazing pie for Thanksgiving and exceeded all of our expectations by coming by our newly purchased home to help with repair/improvement projects we had. Our relationship with Matt could have ended after he guided us through the home buying process, but instead it was just the beginning of what will hopefully be a long relationship.

When Kristie and I first moved to Austin from out of state we really had no idea where to even start when looking for a home. We were fortunate enough to be introduced to Matt through one of his many happy clients. Matt's knowledge of the area was truly first class. He brought us up to speed with areas, traffic, schools, neighborhoods, property taxes, ongoing/planned construction and what it could mean to the area, etc. From answering all of our questions to making great suggestions as to what we may be interested in, Matt did it all. Of course, his expertise didn't just end with FINDING the home. Matt was a fantastic resource, advocate, and advisor during the entire negotiation process. Even since then we have consistently reached out to Matt for guidance on a number of home/neighborhood related questions and he has never failed to live up to our extremely high expectations. He guided us through the entire home buying process seamlessly and we now find ourselves living in our "dream home". The entire experience was painless and we couldn't be more pleased with Matt's knowledge, professionalism, and ultimately friendship. Although there are many standout qualities you'll experience when working with Matt, the one that stood out the most was the fact he truly cared about us and the house we would eventually make a home. I trust anybody that has the pleasure of working with Matt will say the same!
