Bio
For more than two decades, Amy Brees has had an ongoing love affair with one of her favorite cities on Earth. For its world-class performing arts, historical attractions, scenic lakes and proximity to urban hubs, Amy is passionate about Austin—a city known as the Live Music Capital of the World, that offers a blend of cosmopolitan pleasures and pastoral delights in a year-round temperate climate. That this special enclave of Central Texas is dear to Amy is clear in how she gives back to it through civic involvement, volunteer activities and in years spent as a lobbyist in the Texas legislature. After earning a degree from Baylor University, Amy focused her energy in Dallas’s corporate arena. As an operations officer for First National Bank of Dallas, she honed an understanding of finance and computer technology.
Following in the footsteps of her father, Jack Hightower, a former state senator and U.S. congressman, she then moved to Austin and took a position with the Texas Motor Transportation Association that called for negotiating skills in dealing with the Texas legislature on safety, taxes and transportation issues. As a sales consultant for a world-wide cosmetics company, Amy added to her repertoire of skills, sharpening marketing abilities and a gift for working with all kinds of people. To make a difference in the community she loves, this energetic businesswoman has served on the Paramount Producers board, raising awareness and thousands of dollars for the Paramount Theater, locally known as the “crown jewel” of Austin. She further supported her hometown’s cultural scene on the board of the Austin Musical Theatre, a local producer of Broadway musicals. For two years, while her two stepsons were attending Westlake High, Amy and her husband, Chip, served as Chap Club membership chairs, raising money for school athletics. An avid sports fan, Amy also was on the board of Baylor University’s Baylor Bear Foundation, raising funds for collegiate athletics. Amy and Chip also have sponsored an orphan in India through "The Miracle Foundation" for the past 5 years and hope to go to India in the future to work with this incredible organizations.
When she takes a break from professional responsibilities and civic involvement, Amy loves to travel to New York City to enjoy shopping and Broadway shows. Amy puts her creativity and photography skills to work in scrapbooks filled with photos of Audrey dancing with her high school drill team and dance company, plus the whole family in all their travels. To truly relax, she and Chip take pleasure in attending concerts, watching movies and football in their home theatre, seeing some of the live music that Austin has to offer and attending sporting events at Westlake High School. Amy and Chip also try to make at least three New Orleans Saints games every year and love to have friends over to watch the games in their media room. Amy’s passion for her hometown is easy to see in her personal life, but nowhere does it make a bigger impact than in her successful career in real estate. With her contagious enthusiasm for Austin’s attractions, she’s a truly effective ambassador for the city with a longtime resident’s awareness of its many resources.
Along with passion for Austin and keen insight about its real estate market, Amy supplies clients with outstanding negotiating skills and marketing strategies. By handling all the details of a complex transaction, she removes much of the anxiety from the process, Making Your Move a Breeze. Whether you’re searching for a larger family home, selling a property to “downsize” for retirement or relocating to the area, give Amy a call and get ready to move.

Testimonials
Amy was always available for me, which is so important. Her guidance was outstanding, including the instructions she gave me as to what part I should play and what I should do. She continually followed up on my sale. She was on top of the whole process. And, this was just days before she was to go out of the country for 10 days; yet she did not let up one bit on the work required on my purchase. I would like to say that I will never engage in any buy or sale transaction without Amy Brees' guidance. I attempted to do some things on my own the last couple of years, and messed up badly. If I had just talked with her first, I would have saved a lot of money and heartache!
Amy was always flexable, willing to help, and gave us great advice. We are not experienced homebuyers, and really relied on her honesty, integrity, and care to help us through the most important process in our lives. We enjoyed her company.

Amy has helped us through multiple home transactions. We expect a lot from our realtor, and Amy always delivers. Her marketing efforts capture the essence of our homes by stimulating buyers to look at the home as a lifestyle versus a house with a list of features. An important criteria when so many buyers use the web to research potential properties. When assisting us in buying a home, Amy knows the value of our time by understanding our needs and realizing that our purchase is an investment. We were also impressed with the team at Realty Austin for providing additional support and service.

Amy was great! We had two days to find a house and make an offer on the third. We were actually ahead of schedule and made an offer on the second day. We LOVE our new house and were so pleased with the transaction. In addition to only having three days to find the house, we had to immediately leave the state for a scheduled conference and were out of town the entire inspection process. Amy called all the needed repair people and oversaw the entire process. We were so pleased and would recommend Amy to anyone looking for a professional and pleasant home-buying experience.

I already sent a 'thank you' email to Amy for sticking with us and doing a great job of marketing and showing my parents' home. Great job.

Amy did an outstanding job for me. First of all, she sold my house in less than 4 months during a really down market. I owe her big time for that, because mine was a must sell situation. She had my house sold after one month, but that sale was contingent on the buyers selling their house, and their house sale fell through. So, she really sold my house twice for me. Amy worked continually to get my house publicized. She was so easy and nice to work with, and she was always available for me. She worked really well with the other brokers and especially with the broker for the buyer of the house. She especially handled problems well - for example, the broker for the buyer had a problem with a repair at the last minute (i.e., the day before closing), and Amy resolved it that day, mainly by referring to the contract we had on repairs. I owe her big time for that, too, because last minute problems are really bad, especially in this market. Since I was in a must sell situation, I worried a lot during the sale process, and Amy was continually positive. I recommend her highly.

Amy was incredibly attentive and devoted in helping us find a home on a very limited budget meeting very specific criteria. In addition to helping us find the perfect house, she helped us avoid becoming over excited and making the wrong deal on the wrong house. Everyone she recommended to us, from the mortgage broker to the home inspector, was extremely helpful and professional.
